Happy 6th Birthday Jaxton :)

Tonight we celebrated Jaxton's 6th birthday. We invited the cousins over for some cake an ice cream. I put a game together last minute to pass the time until both Grandma' got off work. It was pretty funny, we played dress up relay & a quick few rounds of Red Rover. Everybody gave Jax a great gift, he got just what he wanted this year. Thanks to you all.
On Sunday Grandma & Grandpa H. gave him a remote control roll around creature thing, Heidi's family gave him the remote control firefly he's been asking for ever since he saw Landon playing with his months ago & Melisa's family gave him a Batman Lego set. Jax and Ky both LOVE anything lego. Today Jax got a fun Nerf gun from Shannon's family, he loves it and now I know exactly what to get Brendon for his birthday...thanks Shannon. Of course both Grandma's had to bring another present, they spoil our boys so much. We are grateful for all that they do. Grandma H. gave Jax a transformer type bullet bike toy and Grandma L. got him some new Rollerblades. FUNFUNFUN. She's going to get some for herself so I thought, why not jump on the bandwagon and join the fun, looks like we'll be adding it to our long list of adventures this year. Josh and I bought Jax a dirt bike from my sister Heather, it's the bike that all of her kids learned to ride on, it was a great starter bike for all of them because it's not super fast. Heather gave Jax a brand new riding jersey and riding pants, along with some real nice riding boots that landon had grown out of. We so appreciate the hand me downs from Landon. A big thanks to Heather and Brent :) Josh is looking forward to the time he'll get to spend riding with Jax. Here are the pictures from today.

Dirt bike from mom and dad. Dad rode it in from the front yard, Jax was so surprised and so excited
Pretty funny, just his size ;)
Jaxton, checking out his new dirt bike, he didn't have a clue he was getting it
Ky asked if he could have one too, when he turns 5. He turns 5 in 3 weeks, probably not gonna happen.
Dad giving Jax his first lesson in riding a dirt bike. Dad's been needing a riding partner for such a long time.

Brake check
Off he goes! The kids were fascinated, they stood still in that spot for a good 15 minutes while Dad gave Jax the riding lesson
He picked it up pretty fast

Jax was finally reunited with his one time best friend Brendon, they picked up where they left off, and now he asks too play with Brendon everyday. I am so glad he has a good friend like Brendon, he's such a good kid.

Grandpa pestering Ky, like always....of course Ky loves it. :)

Sad Day :(

Yesterday was a sad and traumatizing day for us. Here's the story but it's a little graphic and not for the faint of hearts, If that's you, please don't continue to read. There's my warning, so here goes. Ky and I took Baxter(our new puppy) on a walk with us to pick Jax up from the bus stop. The bus stop is about 5 blocks away so we made sure to take him on his leash. Once Jax got off the bus we made our way back up the street to head home. The boys were ahead of me with some friends from school, they had stopped at one of their houses and started playing on the lawn. As I got to the house and attempted to gather the boys together to keep on moving up to our house, out of nowhere, a big dog came from behind the bushes and just went crazy on Baxter. This dog was literally trying to eat our little Baxter. He had him in his mouth shaking him back and forth vigorously. I of course freaked out and tried to kick the dog to get him to let go of him, Baxter got loose and the dog just scooped him back up again doing the same thing, only this time he had a hold him in his mouth by his shoulder and neck. I decided I was not going to just sit there and let this dog kill our puppy right there in front of my kids, so I kicked the dog again giving Baxter a chance to get loose again. I went in to grab Baxter as the dog came right back again clenching Baxter in his teeth biting my hand in the process. Baxter was in total defense mode and started to bite me numerous times on my hands not knowing it was me. I threw the big dog off and held on to Baxter as he kept biting at me until he realized I was there to protect him. The dog came after him one more time while I had him in my arms, right then I screamed for his owner to get him off. Once the dogs owner realized what was going on he yelled and the dog finally took off. It was one of the most traumatic things I have ever witnessed. I could not believe how viscous this dog was, he was intent on killing our innocent defenseless little puppy. We were worried all night that Baxter might not survive, he was very timid and wouldn't let anyone touch or hold him, he would just whimper in pain and bunker down inside his dog carrier. We went to bed that night hoping and praying he would make it thru the night and be ok. He is such a little trooper, so traumatized and shaken up not knowing what it was all for. This morning he woke up and walked around a little, obviously in a lot of pain. He seems to be getting better and better by the minute today. We are grateful for that. I decided not to go to the clinic but was able to get a tetanus shot. I love having so many nurses in our family. Josh was on his way home from work so he cleaned up the wounds on my hands and bandaged me up when he got home. The boys were really worried about Baxter but with it being family night we made sure to discuss everthing during family home evening. I think it really helped them to sit down and discuss it together as a family with Grandma and Grandpa. When Jax asked how Baxter was doing when he got off the bus today, I told him he was doing much better and seemed to be getting better by the minute. Jax responded saying "it's becuase I bessed him huh?" Ky said "no, I did". I truly believe all of our prayers were answered.

Visiting Daddy on his hunting trip

Every year Josh and his brother Wade plan a weekend hunting trip. Josh looks forward to this time every year. I am positive he likes the hunt more than Christmas or any other holiday. Wade usually brings his oldest son Trevin along with him but this year Calder was old enough to hunt so he was able to go along too. Wade's brother in-law also came this year.

We drove up with Grandma and Grandpa Lake on Saturday to visit. We got there before they got back from their morning hike so we just hung out for a while till they showed up. As you can see they were dead tired by the time they were done. Since it was Calders first year hunting he didn't really know what he was in for, he was exhausted after their long hike. Josh said they all had a lot fun. We can't wait till we can join them in a few years. :)

Ky and dad, the boys wanted to stay and hunt so bad.

We really miss dad during the hunt but know how much he loves it so we tough it out.

Jax and Grandma

Caught Jax picking his nose, he'll love me for this in a few years. :)

Jax and Ky got a new puppy for their birthdays from Grandma Lake. We got him a little early. He is the most mild mannered puppy I have seen, for now at least. We were going to name him Butch after my family dog we had while I was growing up. Jax wanted to call him Butchy so the day we got him we called him Butchy all day long. That night when Josh got home from work he said "we should have named him Baxter" after the dog on Anchorman, one of our favorite movies. I thought it was fitting so we asked Jax which name he wanted him to have and he decided he liked Baxter the best. So here he is, our new puppy Baxter, he's such a good pup. :)

Ky and his cousins Trevin and Calder.

He thinks he's a pretty tough kid.

Josh with his mom and dad..... and Baxter

Jax and Ky have 2 of the most active Grandmas I know. Here we are going for a hike with Grandma Lake, they know they can always count on her for an adventurous hike, she's always up for it

Mom and Ky on the trail, had to stop and feed Baxter some water out of our hands, he was searching pretty hard for some.

On our way back down the mountain to our camp we stumbled upon this swing someone set up smack in the middle of the mountain. It was so much fun. The pictures say it all, although I had a pretty hard time trying to snap a good one.

Ky, a little blurry.....like I said, it was pretty tough.

Mom, with Ky watching from below, he was getting a kick out of it

On the way back to camp the boys were getting stickers all over in their shoes, pants and shirts. Jax stopped Grandma to help him clean out his shoe.

This was pretty funny... On our way back Baxter just decided he was tired so he wondered over to a tree and laid down to take a little cat nap. :)

Jaxton's first day of Kindergarten

Jaxton started his first day at "the big kid school" today. That is what he has called it for the past 2 years. He has been ready and waiting for this day forever it seems. I took Ky with me to drop Jax off....... bad idea. Ky's best buddy and cousin Treyson is only 2 months older than him but he will be in the same grade as Jax. When we got there and Ky noticed that Treyson was there to start school too he thought he would be able to stay, only makes sense right?!?! Needless to say he wasn't very happy when he had to leave with me.

Ky could not be left out of the pics, he so funny.

He REALLY wanted to make sure I got a picture of his new shoes.

Ky, Jax and Treyson.....don't they look HAPPY :)

I asked Jax how school was and if he made any friends & he said "I played with a kid that goes to my same church" his name is Ty but he couldn't remember his name. I asked him if he played with Trey and he said "Yep, we did and Treyson threw his teddy bear at me, it was fun!" :)
This was Ky not being very happy about leaving when we got in the car. At least he's excited to start preschool now. I guess that was all it took.
Then he decided to smile when he realized I was taking his picture

The beginning

After a year of procrastinating, we're finally here in the world wide blogosphere. Our lives have been so crazy this past year. So many changes and new adventures are in store for us this year. It seems fitting to start blogging now that we are starting a new & completely different chapter in our lives. I've really loved reading the blogs of family and friends over the past few months. I hope you all enjoy ours as well. :)
